Remote Workforce Management Certificate Program for Managers & Supervisors

Whether you are a new manager/supervisor or you have years of experience under your belt, managing a team can be challenging.  Now, throw in remote employees that you may only see face-to-face on an occasional basis, and you've got an entirely new set of challenges.

The way things are trending, it looks like a lot of companies will continue with remote work, even after things go back to normal.  Sooner or later, every manager will need this seminar!  Companies are going to have to re-think the way they communicate with their employees and the way they motivate their employees all while keeping up with the legal obligations of a remote workforce.

This five-course program will cover:

  • Remote Onboarding and Orientation What new challenges do employers face when onboarding a remote worker?  What is the best way to socialize a new hire without the benefit of day-to-day contact with co-workers?  This class will address those questions and more.  Hiring remote workers includes challenges with new hire paperwork not just from the legal standpoint but logistically as well.  The new norm is going to require that employers look at the onboarding process differently and this class will address that and more!
  • Remote Communication What is your individual communication style and how does that affect how you communicate with your remote workers?  What is the best way to face the challenges of communication when the parties are not face-to-face, when facial expressions are left to the imagination?  This class will address those questions and discuss how to set guidelines for virtual teams, learning about different communication styles and how to communicate effectively.
  • Remote Performance Management With a lot of employers continuing with a remote workforce model, this may mean a review of the current model for performance management; are current practices effective for remote workers?  This class will explore new and old methods of performance management.  Some things will naturally stay the same, but some will not, and employers may need to re-consider how success is measured; how employees are meeting goals, and whether the goals need to change.  New priorities within an organization will often mean shifting focus from time worked to quality and quantity.
  • Compliance for a Remote Team  If there weren’t enough employment laws for companies to stay on top of, the remote workforce will add to the concerns.  Employers will be faced with wage and hours issues with timekeeping and the potential for employees to work off the clock; meal and rest period compliance is more important.  What about an employee that needs an accommodation while working from home?  How does an employer engage in the interactive process and measure success?  Employees working from home are often dealing with confidential and proprietary information, should cyber security be a concern?  And what about the continued health and safety of your remote workers?  These topics and more will be addressed in this program.
  • Remote Employee Morale and Engagement  Many employers are shifting focus to best ways to engage with their remote workers.  There can be a fear of isolation if employees are not engaged with on a regular basis and not all employees respond the same.  This program will address the importance of engagement, how to be alert to potential employee morale issues and learning to adjust your expectations.

Remote workers, off-site workers, telecommuters and contingent workers are taking over the modern workplace. It's estimated that within the next decade, 75 percent of employees may no longer work in a traditional office setting. Don't let your management skills lag behind. Enroll today!
