PART TWO - Workplace Violence Prevention - Are You Ready for the New Requirements? 6.12.24
Workplace Violence Prevention – Due date July 1, 2024
In 2023, Governor Newsom signed SB 553 – the first of its kind workplace violence prevention law – which requires nearly all California employers to create, adopt, and implement written Workplace Violence Prevention Plans. Components of the plan include annual workplace violence prevention training, violent incident logs, employee involvement, leadership responsibilities and the creation and retention of various records. And development and adoption of the Workplace Violence Prevention plan is required by July 1, 2024.
Last month SDEA conducted a roundtable providing attendees with essential knowledge to assist in creating a mandatory plan. In this roundtable, we will walk through the sample plan provided by the state as if we were filling it out during the roundtable. Of course developing the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan is more than a one-hour roundtable, but this program is developed to set you up ready for compliance.
